  Forts and Monuments in Delhi
India’s capital city, Delhi has a history that dates back to thousands years and a heritage as rich as its picturesque landscape. Since time imemorial, Delhi has been the capital of several empires, prominent among them was the Mughal dynasty which built large number of forts and monuments. Over the centuries, the forts and monuments of Delhi were abandoned, some captured, some disabused, leaving behind a rich history in their wake. In fact, even today, Delhi’s rich history lies enshrined in the forts and monuments across the city and each monument dotting the landscape mutely tells some story from the historical past.
However, later additions were made constantly to the forts and monuments of Delhi, but still they provide a rich architectural legacy of influences that begins with the Hindu-Rajput style, shows an assimilation of the Mughal architectural style and later the British style architecture.

Delhi is home to numerous imposing forts like Red Fort and Old Fort and impressive monuments such as Qutab Minar, India Gate, Jama Masjid, Humayun’s Tomb etc. Here, we are providing capsules of some of the most important forts and monuments of Delhi.
